Ogston Sour Oil Production Pipeline Infrastructure (2005)

Ogston Sour Oil Production Pipeline Infrastructure

Approximately 50km of Pipelines in Single and Common Trench (89mm Outside Diameter to 168mm OD)

  • Infrastructure of pipelines primarily dedicated to sour oil production from remote oil wells to a central measurement satellite, however each pipeline required a secondary design to be converted to a water disposal pipeline in the future. This involved dual purposing each pipeline, accounting for the potential of both services.
  • Challenges with these projects include ground conditions (muskeg), shortened construction season (winter only), environmental concerns, installation of pipelines and risers into operational facilities. Many of the pipelines are installed in common trench with upwards of six pipelines in one trench.
